This 1948 ranch house situated on a hilltop overlooking a large pond was transformed into an old-style home with renovations and additions that added three times the finished floor space coupled with modern amenities. A copper-roofed porch ran across the front of the house. The fieldstone finish on the foundation and retaining walls continued the antique feeling. Inside, one was greeted by large, freely flowing spaces with high ceilings.
The client desired to have an enjoyable outdoor area with a level backyard play area, swimming pool, spa and outdoor shower. Since the original backyard was a cliff with too steep a slope to be a functional outdoor environment, converting this unusable site required planning and vision. In addition, unique engineering and construction of an 18- foot elevation change was required to contour the property for the pool.
The major renovation of a simple ranch into this updated farmhouse provided the owner with the charm and space, both indoors and out, for his growing family.
