Project Brief

Updating this 1940’s house became a complete house renovation. The client’s focus on details throughout the house started with the kitchen remodel including new counter tops, updated lights, new wood floor with radiant heat and the all important pizza oven version 3. The updating included lower level bar, theater and powder room with unique and striking wallpaper. Master bath work included the specialty stone tub, walk-in shower, and custom curved vanities with light coves. Other work included the details outlined above in every possible space. Another outstanding feature throughout the house are the corner windows that are mitered glass to help enhance the views. The importance of the view was additionally highlighted by the extensive use of glass guardrails on all the decks.

For this New York family to come out to the country---its wasn’t about the renovation—it was about all the details. With a view of the Ten Mile River on the NY – Connecticut border, and the farm they own across the river, this NYC family decided to renovate and restore this architecturally significant Craftsman Style house and guest house on the property. After almost 40 years of renovation and new construction Karp Associates Inc was about to get an education on “cool stuff” you “just have to have.”
