East Lane

Project Brief

Looking to build a modern home in Fairfield County, a professional New York City couple with 4 children chanced upon a tear down on an attractive level lot within walking distance from downtown Stamford. The Manhattan architect they hired designed a modern home to reflect their style and tastes, resulting in a very unique home, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work.

Notable exterior features included flat roofs, horizontal and rectilinear features, and very large window systems. The interior was graced with modern elements as well--a stainless steel and white kitchen, floating stair wall, with architectural light well. Flush doors, a sharp lighting design and dark Brazilian walnut floors also lent a sleek and urban look. The floor to ceiling windows on the back of the house incorporated the spacious rear yard into the interior space, yet warm wood tones, floor up-lighting and low wall stair lights preserved a hominess to this family’s dream come true.
